The Perry County Child Support Division was established by Federal law and operates under the authority of both State and Federal law for the benefit of dependent children.
Child Support Services Offered Through the Perry County Prosecutor’s Office Include:
- Establishing Paternity
- Establishing and Enforcing Support Orders
- Establishing and Enforcing Medical Support Orders
- Collecting Current and Past Due Support Payments
- Reviewing and Adjusting of Current Support Orders
- Locating Absent Parents
Who May Receive Services?:
Parents receiving TANF Benefits for their children must pursue child
support services through their local prosecutor’s office. Parents
of children enrolled in Hoosier Healthwise can get child support services
at no cost.
- Any parent can get these services for a small fee. A one-time fee of $25 is required to start child support efforts for families not receiving public assistance.
Enforcement tools used by the Perry County Child Support Division to collect support include:
- Withholding Support Payment from Paychecks
- Intercepting Federal and State Tax Refunds and Lottery Winnings for Child Support Arrearages
- Reporting Unpaid Child Support of $1,000 or more to Credit Bureaus
- Placing liens on vehicles of noncustodial parents who owe child support arrearages
- Suspending driver’s and professional licenses of noncustodial parents who owe child support arrearages
- Evaluating Cases to determine if civil or criminal actions are appropriate.
- Filing/Prosecuting actions for civil contempt and or felony nonsupport
Collections
Many of our Perry County children suffer despair and deprivation
due to non-custodial parents’ failure to pay their child support.
The Perry County Child Support division is committed to helping enforce
child support; despite having a limited staff and over 1,300 open child
support cases.
The Perry County Child Support Division has been successful in enforcing and collecting support. Annual child support collection totals are as follows:

As of December 2008, statistics show that of 92 counties in Indiana, Perry County is ranked 21st best in collecting current child support and 16th best in cases paying on arrears and 14th best in order establishment and 11th best in paternity establishment.
In all categories, Perry County performed significantly better than the national average.
