Safety Day coming to city park May 5
TELL CITY – Learning to be safe is seldom so much fun! Several city and county offices are working on plans for a May 5 Safety Day at City Hall Park in Tell City May 5. The Tell City Police Department is helping to organize plans for the 9 a.m. to noon event. A bicycle-training program for youngsters know as Safety Town will be set up in the park, with officers working with older riders. Conservation officer Phil Schuetter will share information on all-terrain-vehicle safety and the Tell City Electric Department and Tell City firemen will demonstrate their equipment and talk about electrical and fire safety.
The county prosecutor’s office is providing funds to sponsor an identification program that will provide parents an identification card displaying their child’s photo and fingerprint. The card will also give identifying characteristics such as scars or birthmarks and will contain emergency-medical information. The cards will be offered at no cost. Free hot dogs and soft drinks will be served from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
